Two arrested in connection with shots fired in Saddle Lake

Police have arrested two men in connection to multiple firearms incidents that occurred in Saddle Lake earlier this month. The RCMP detachment building was also shot at the same day.

SADDLE LAKE – Two suspects have been jointly charged in relation to firearms incidents where residences and the RCMP detachment in Saddle Lake were shot at on the evening of Feb. 2 to Feb. 3.  

Saddle Lake and St. Paul RCMP members were responding to multiple firearms incidents in Saddle Lake Cree Nation on Feb. 2, and while out responding to one of the incidents, their own building was targeted.

Narcisse Josh Cardinal, 26, and Hayden Alexander Cardinal, 27, both of Saddle Lake, have been charged with discharging a firearm with intent to endanger life and possessing a firearm in a motor vehicle. 

Both men remain in custody following a judicial hearing for their release, which was adjourned pending their next appearance in St. Paul Provincial Court on Feb. 10. 

Police reportedly seized a blue, 2014 Mazda 3, two firearms, and ammunition at the time of the arrests. 

RCMP will not be releasing any additional information regarding the incident as the matters are now before the court. 

Investigations involving individual residences affected by the firearm incidents remain ongoing by the St. Paul and Saddle Lake RCMP.
