Two die in collision near Ardmore

Four others transported to hospital

ARDMORE - Two people have died as a result of a two-vehicle collision near Ardmore early yesterday morning. Police responded to the scene after receiving a call shortly after 6 a.m. of a serious motor vehicle collision at Sec. Hwy. 892 and Hwy. 28.

"A Community Peace Officer from Bonnyville had attempted to stop a four-door sedan for a traffic safety violation. The sedan was heading southbound on Highway 892 and failed to stop at a controlled intersection at Highway 28. A collision subsequently occurred with a pickup truck heading eastbound on Highway 28," according to an RCMP media release issued this afternoon.

"Two out of six occupants of the sedan have died as a result of injuries sustained in this collision - a 25-year-old female and a 19-year-old male, both from the Elizabeth Métis Settlement. The four other occupants of the sedan were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The two occupants of the pickup truck were assessed for minor injuries by Emergency Medical Services on scene."

Cold Lake RCMP are now wanting to identify an adult male that assisted at the scene of this collision. RCMP say he was driving a service truck and reportedly wearing an Esso mobile jacket. Police would like to speak with him in relation to this incident.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information on this collision is asked to contact Cold Lake RCMP at 780-594-3301.
