Two Hills area reports first cases of COVID-19

Three active cases noted on Thursday

TWO HILLS - The County of Two Hills region has reported its first cases of COVID-19.

According to updated information posted on the Government of Alberta website on July 16, the geographic region described as the County of Two Hills has three active cases of the virus.

The St. Paul region remains at zero active cases, with three recovered cases. The Bonnyville region has one active case, and eight recovered cases. The Lac La Biche region has yet to report any cases.

"We’ve conducted more than 8,200 new tests, and unfortunately we have identified 120 additional cases in the province, which is up significantly from yesterday," said Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw in her provincial update on July 16.

"This is the first time since May 2 that we’ve identified more than 100 new cases in a single day," said Hinshaw. "Currently, 69 people are in hospital, eight of whom are in intensive care. Two more Albertans have died."
