Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk (UCP) earned her second term with 61 per cent of the votes, nearly double the NDP candidate Taneen Rudyk

By 11:15 p.m. on Monday evening, the UCP had won 33 seats, compared to just 20 for the NDP.

UCP candidate Scott Cyr is leading in the polls by more than 800 votes compared to NDP candidate Caitlyn Blake, as more than half of the polling stations in the Bonnyville-Cold Lake- St. Paul are reporting ballot counts.

Glenn Van Dijken with UCP has a strong lead in tonight's election.

No comments from candidates yet, as vote tallies come in slowly

On Sunday night, emergency crews responded to a structure fire at 5401-55 street located in the northern portion of St. Paul, and then another incident on Township Road 581, near Range Road 83 in the County of St. Paul at approximately 10:35 a.m., on May 29.

Local polling stations close at 8pm

ATCO staff from across the northeast region, from as far away as Fort McMurray, travelled to the Cold Lake Energy Centre on May 26 to throw a community barbecue in partnership with the Oilers Entertainment Group.

Students from the area took part in the Student Vote program on May 26.

For voters who didn't take advantage of early polling stations, May 29 is the last chance to cast a ballot in the 2023 Alberta Provincial Election. Across the provinces voting stations opened at 9 a.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m.
