The 2013 provincial handball championships will be hosted by Ecole Mallaig School on April 26-27 at St. Paul Regional High School and Glen Avon, and head coach Ian MacGillivray is excited to showcase the unique sport in front of home fans.

The stands were packed at the Clancy Richard Arena on Saturday for the arrival of local hockey legend Stan “Steamer” Smyl, who took part in Xtreme Hockey Night in St. Paul, a charity hockey game to raise money for local organizations.

Elk Point native Mark Letestu is well on his way to a career season with the Columbus Blue Jackets. In spite of the shortened season, Letestu is currently five goals and two assists off his totals through 64 games with the Penguins in 2010-11.

This Saturday a number of local hockey greats, including Glendon-born ex-Canucks captain Stan Smyl, will take to the ice at the Clancy Richard Arena for Xtreme Hockey Night in St. Paul. The event will start at 11:30 a.m.
