Mixed bonspiel goes at end of month

The Timbits Future All-Star night offers a chance to celebrate the youngest minor hockey players in St. Paul, but also honour the graduating U18 players.

The Canadiens battled through the first round of playoffs, beating the Lloydminster Bandits. They've since won Game 1 in the second round match-up with the Vermilion Tigers.

Armand Boucher is a deeply rooted member of St. Paul Minor Hockey in St. Paul, a senior referee with around 20 years of experience.

'As I grew up, everyone became that one coach, became that person in my life who brought me here,' said Austin Saint, former Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiac and current forward in Canada's U Sports men's hockey league.

‘I crave that feeling of a barbell on my back. I crave the feeling of the calluses on my hands and how my body feels after I've left everything on the platform and I can barely function the next day after competing,’ said national bronze medalist Janine Hebert. ‘There's a freedom in it.’

High school curlers from across the province have gathered in St. Paul to take part in the ASAA provincial championship.

High school teams from across the northeast region travelled to Cold Lake last weekend to compete in the NEASAA mixed, boys', and girls' zone curling championships. This weekend, St. Paul will host ASAA curling provincials.
