In a way, it's ironic. After spending so many hours covering the election that ended last week and researching the issues, it was the very day after the election ended where one of those issues abruptly became very personal.

Shayne Saskiw, MLA for Lac La Biche – St. Paul – Two Hills, spent months campaigning for the recent win at the doors and community halls across the constituency.

Albertans have spoken. They elected another PC majority government with a Wildrose official opposition. Locally, voters chose Wildrose candidate Shayne Saskiw with 47 per cent. Including votes for NDP and Liberals, 58 per cent of Lac La Biche – St.

When I sat down to write this column, I initially thought about writing something election-related, but considering yesterday’s election has dominated the media over the past month, I’ll spare you my political views on things for now.

Much has been printed in respect to our MLA over the past weeks, which has prompted me to add my perspective. Twenty-two years ago, my family and I relocated to Elk Point. We quickly became acquainted with the “man about town,” Ray Danyluk.

To the Editor, As a person who’s always lived in Alberta, I’ve been disappointed to see how much we’ve drifted away from what’s made us a strong province – limited government and balanced budgets.

With six days to the 2012 Alberta election, we know this will be one to remember. Provincially, the Wildrose has given the PCs a real run for their money, with most polls placing the Wildrose in a commanding lead.

One topic on every ballot is freedom.
