ST. PAUL – St. Paul rodeo week is packed with action from cowboys and cowgirls competing in the arena, but it is also a week with no shortage of food opportunities - many of which raise funds for a good cause.
“Get yourself out to one of the pancake breakfasts, or the chili cook-off, or the many other opportunities that are offered throughout the week,” says Town of St. Paul Mayor Maureen Miller.
The St. Paul Home Hardware, for example, is doing a barbecue on Aug. 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The meal is cash only and proceeds will go toward the St. Paul Affordable Community Housing Society (SPACH), said Caroline Coney, floor supervisor at Home Hardware.
SPACH is a non-profit volunteer group raising money to build affordable homes in the community.
Coney says the business does a rodeo barbecue each year. “There will be picnic tables set up in our parking lot. We barbecue up hamburgers, hot dogs, and we usually also include a free raffle,” she said.
According to Coney, the barbecue that will be used during the day will then be given out to a raffle winner.

Other food opportunities during the week include Servus Credit Union’s Aug. 27 Burgers-on-the-Grill from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., which is co-sponsored by Cornerstone Co-op. Proceeds will go to the Haying in the 30’s Cancer Support Society.
Also running at the same time on Aug. 27, just down the block, is the 30th anniversary celebration for local business MCSnet, where they are giving out free coffee and donuts.

On Aug. 28, ATCO Electric is doing its 28th pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., with proceeds going toward the St. Paul Visual Arts Centre.
Cornerstone Co-op's Chili Cook Off is also back this year. The cook-off sees community groups competing against each other to create the best chili. Judging starts at 11 a.m., and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the public can stop by the Co-op for lunch. This year’s proceeds are going to St. Paul Minor Ball.

The St. Paul Legion Branch 100 is holding its Legion Pancake Breakfast on Aug. 29 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Proceeds will help fund the Legion’s programs.
Then, people can head out to Home Hardware’s barbecue at 11 a.m.
At 4:30 p.m., the Town and the County of St. Paul are hosting the annual $3 Beef-on-a-Bun Supper at the Recreation Centre.

On Aug. 30, people can fill up at Cornerstone Co-op's “Famous Rodeo Pancake Breakfast” from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., with proceeds going to the People’s Museum Society. The annual parade will take place after the breakfast.
A Ukrainian lunch, catered by Shirley’s Catering, is available at the Recreation Centre beginning at 11:30 a.m.
There’s also a beer fest at the Recreation Centre later at night at 9 p.m., with county music artist Brandon Lorenzon providing entertainment.
