On Friday afternoon, St. Paul Elementary School was put into a "hold and secure," following a report of a loud noise in the nearby area.

“During bus loading time there was a loud noise,&” confirmed Heather Starosielski, SPERD board chair, adding, “Police were called and students were put in a 'hold and secure.' RCMP investigated and deemed the area was safe and bus loading could resume.&”

Bus traffic was backed up in the area for a short while, and a number of RCMP vehicles were also visible near the school.

Starosielski said parents were informed of the situation, and the school division is now waiting for a police investigation and any further report as to the origin of the noise.

“As always, we are thankful for their quick response,&” said Starosielski, when speaking of the RCMP response to the situation. At about 3:35 p.m., RCMP advised the division that the area was safe. RCMP remained in the area to patrol during loading.
