A 48-year-old man from the County of St. Paul has passed away from injuries sustained in an ATV accident last week, RCMP confirmed to the St. Paul Journal today.

The man was driving a single ATV with no passengers, when the quad rolled over near the intersection of Range Road 83 and Township 563, west of Stoney Lake, according to Const. Allan Watt of the St. Paul RCMP. There were no witnesses to the accident, and the police were notified by fire and ambulance services of the crash at about 6:20 a.m. on April 8.

“It appeared the accident may have happened a considerable time before that,” stated Watt, who added the driver was in critical condition when he was found and taken to the hospital in Elk Point. The driver was transported via STARS to Edmonton, but succumbed to his injuries early the next morning, April 9.

The name of the gentleman is being withheld as directed, according to Watt, who said the matter remains under investigation by the Edmonton Medical Examiners office and the RCMP.
