Snow or shine, RCMP 'are there for us'

As Laurent Brousseau was out shoveling his walk on a Friday morning, he and his wife were surprised to get an unexpected pair of hands taking the task over.

The 80-year-old was scraping away when an RCMP vehicle drove by, and then doubled back. The member inside stopped at the Brousseaus’ house and hopped out.

“He took the shovel and started shoveling for us,” Laurent’s wife Marie said, in a voice of amazement.

She noted the RCMP officer was talking about his parents, and had said, “If I’d be living close to my dad, I’d be helping him out.”

She says people in St. Paul should know just how important a role RCMP play in society, not only to keep people safe, but in other ways too.

“The RCMP, they’re there for us.”

The Journal later discovered the mystery RCMP member was Const. David Henry, who simply responded he just wanted to help a person that needed a hand. He ended up doing more, by brightening one couple’s day.
