St. Paul Canadiens' U18 teams shine at recent tournaments

The U18 female Canadiens team and the U18-1 Canadiens recently took part in some early January tournaments, excelling on the ice.

ST. PAUL – Against seven other teams, the St. Paul U18 Female Canadiens went undefeated and won gold at the Sherwood Park Fuzion Frostbite Tournament held at the Mundare Arena in early January. The tournament was hosted by the Sherwood Park Fuzion.

Cody Machney, head coach of the team, commended the players for their well-deserved win.

Compared to many of the other teams, the Canadiens were physically smaller in stature.

"When we started getting pushed around a little bit, because it was getting to be a physical game, [the Canadiens] didn't back down and they didn't cower."

Ultimately, Machney said the team rose to the occasion and "pulled it off."

Machney thanked the coaching staff and the fans as well.

"We had a lot of fans out there... cheering us and supporting us. It was great," he said.
