The Conservative candidate in the next federal election for the newly formed Lakeland Riding has been decided, following three days of voting in locations across the area.

Shannon Stubbs confirmed via her Facebook account late Thursday night that she had won the Conservative nomination.

“I want to thank each and every one of you for your confidence and incredible hard work for the past five months,” she said. The next federal election is set to take place in the fall of 2015.

The other name on the ballot was Terry James, from the Vegreville area. Further comments from Stubbs were unavailable as of the Journal’s early press deadline.
