In the spirit of the season, St. Paul Family and Community Services (FCSS) and Family Resource Network (FRN) will once again be offering plenty of treats to those who stop by the St. Paul Recreation Centre on Oct. 31.

The water consumption rate with the Elk Point/St. Paul Regional Water Commission has increased. 

When speaking about a potential new school to be built in Mallaig, outside access to the library, daycare space, and gymnasium space were topics discussed by County of St. Paul council.

Acres of Hope Growing Project, a community-based initiative in Mallaig, completed its harvest on Oct. 13. The crops harvested will be sold throughout the year, with proceeds going to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFB). 

On Oct. 12, the Saddle Lake Cree Nation held a career fair at the St. Paul Recreation Centre for the first time. Businesses from outside the Lakeland region also attended, including those from Fort McMurray and Edmonton.

County of St. Paul council discussed administration’s request to put the County on a build list to replace three fire pumper trucks used in Elk Point, Mallaig, and St. Paul, during the regular County council meeting on Oct. 10.

The St. Paul Bengals bantam football team performed well during their last regular season game on Oct. 14 against Wainwright’s bantam team, the Wainwright Warhawks, winning 39-14.

During a delegation on Oct. 10 at the regular County of St. Paul council meeting, MLA Scott Cyr discussed a variety of issues concerning the St. Paul region with council members and administration.

The pumpkin drop at the Smoky Lake Pumpkin Festival was once again a highlight of the weekend.

Trustee Younghans says no ill will was meant when he proposed exploring a name change for St. Paul Education.
