On Sept. 22, Saddle Lake held the grand opening of Onchaminahos Elementary School. The new building replaces the current elementary school in Saddle Lake, which was built in the 1970s. The new school will provide space for over 533 kindergarten to Grade 6 students.

The Mannawanis Native Friendship Centre Society (MNFCS) will be holding a three-day commemoration for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, from Sept. 28 to 30.

The St. Paul and District Food Bank is seeing increased demand this year. Larry Lambert, board chairman of the food bank, says the number of people seeking aid has increased this year by at least 100 people.

The needs and wants of the community were expressed during a series of public consultations held on Sept. 12.

Of the 200 runners expected to arrive in St. Paul for the Sept. 30 Iron Horse Ultra 100, 32 of those athletes will come from the St. Paul, Elk Point and Bonnyville areas.
