Thirty-six-year tradition continues

LAKELAND – On July 6, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith named the ministers and members who will serve on the government’s cabinet policy committees. Both MLAs serving the Lakeland region will serve on a cabinet committee.

Responding to a break and enter in progress at a St. Paul business in the industrial park, RCMP arrested two suspects that were discovered to be wanted on multiple warrants, including a Canada-wide warrant.

The mosaic will be installed at a wall of the FIELDS St. Paul building along the main street at 4733-50 Ave. Installation will begin on July 19 weather permitting. It will take a few days to do the installation. 

After several back and forth discussions, the Town of St. Paul's new Animal Control Bylaw has gone through its third and final reading.

The U17 softball St. Paul Storm team won this year's Lakeland league finals on June 28, following a game against the Bonnyville Angels.

While the annual Canada Day fireworks show was in jeopardy of being cancelled on July 1 in St. Paul due to weather, a break in the skies allowed for the show to go on and a full day of fun was had.

The school also once again won the Alberta Emerald Award earlier this June.

Just months after debating if the municipality would proceed with including one Community Peace Officer (CPO) in its 2023 budget, council has agreed to the hiring of a second CPO to offer more coverage and address ongoing needs in the community.

Many residents are already familiar with the Lions Park located on main street in the Town of St. Paul. It is often used for community events and activities, but its name had yet to be made official, that is until June 24.
