The LRA finals features the top amateur cowboys and cowgirls hailing from across the province and abroad.

Kicking off the rodeo week on Aug. 25, the 2024 Ranch Rodeo once again took place at the Clancy Richard arena, bringing 10 teams and their steeds to St. Paul to showcase their skills on a ranch. 

Rodeos are a big part of Alberta’s culture and history, often seen as a reflection of the rural way of life. From Aug. 25 to Sept. 1, St. Paul rodeo week is back – the biggest rodeo event in the Lakeland.

The 2024 Cabrini Park Challenge Cup filled both sides of the street and every available parking lot along its length on Saturday, as visitors from across the Lakeland and beyond gathered for a day of multiple competitions.

Turning the tide on declining fish populations, members from St. Paul Fish and Game Association (SPFGA) volunteered to transfer thousands of yellow perch to Frenchman Lake on Aug. 15, aiming to rejuvenate a once-abundant fishing ground in Northeastern Alberta. 

There are only a few days to go, and Heinsburg area barrel racer Chantel Kinch is “very excited” to have finally made it into the Lakeland Rodeo Association’s Showdown finals this weekend.

The well known annual Chili Cook-off hosted by Cornerstone Co-op is back again. The cook-off is scheduled for Aug. 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Next phase of restructuring includes removing Alberta Health Services (AHS) as the operator of some hospitals and turning facilities over to other administrators like Catholic health care provider Covenant Health.

St. Paul RCMP are hoping to return tools, jewellery and collectibles that are believed to have been stolen. The items were seized by police following a search warrant executed on Aug. 6 in St. Paul.

The St. Paul A&W location was filled with classic vehicles for a car show, with car enthusiasts and members of the community gathering to show their support for those battling Multiple Sclerosis.
