Santa stops by Elk Point arena for pre-Christmas skate

Residents in Elk Point enjoyed skating with Santa on Dec. 22, just days before Christmas.

ELK POINT - The A. G. Ross Arena’s annual Skate with Santa brought out a crowd of all ages and skating skills on Dec. 22, with the arena ice divided in two and shinny underway on the other half.

This year’s skate was paired with the Arena Fundraising Committee’s popular Wings and Things event, where draws were made for the committee’s basket raffle. The grand prize of a liquor basket went to Melissa Cullimore, second prize of $1,000 in VISA cards went to Rick Austin, a $500 Co-op gift card went to Chelsea Botting and a bulging chocolate basket was won by Peter Danyluk.

The committee says the raffle raised a total of $11,660 for the arena’s ice plant replacement project.
