The MD of Bonnyville’s regular council meetings and meetings of the whole will remain on Tuesday mornings following a string of back-and-forth council motions and resolutions – but Ward representation could become a future concern based on the scheduling conflicts of some council members.

The board of trustees for Lakeland Catholic School Division has approved the 2023-24 division calendar with some notable changes geared toward improving the mental health of students and staff alike.

New rates, rules and fines have been updated to the Town of Bonnyville’s new Solid Waste Bylaw deemed as a necessary “modernization” of the former Garbage Bylaw originally passed in 1987. A section specific to the disposal of “Household Hazardous Waste” and electronic waste has also been included in the new bylaw.

In the last seven days, Bonnyville RCMP members responded to motor vehicle collisions in both the Town of Bonnyville and in Iron River along Highway 55.

RCMP continue to be on the lookout for a black 2015 Chevrolet Cruze bearing the Alberta licence plate CMH 9102 that had been stolen while idling on Bonnyville’s Main Street.

A 39-year-old Bonnyville man was alleged to have been caught breaking into individual mailboxes at the Bonnyville Post Office on the evening of March 13.

"We have gained so many things, but we lost things in the process too," says local historian and former Town of Bonnyville councillor Ray Prevost, looking back on the town's 75-year history. 

The MD of Bonnyville’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Department outlined its successes of 2022 during its fourth quarterly report, which also included a handful of completed projects that have been on the books since 2020.

The MD of Bonnyville’s manager of Waste Services highlights changes to the Cleanfarms’ ag jug recycling program and the extension of an Alberta electronics recycling pilot project that will see certain MD sites continue to accept over 600 types of electronic items for recycling.

"We could one day have the issue, but today we don't," said Al Hoggan, Chief Administrative Officer for the MD of Bonnyville.
