The Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiacs have claimed their spot in the AJHL North Division Final in Whitecourt after taking the series against the Whitecourt Wolverines in Game 5 with a 4-2 win on Friday night. The Pontiacs will go head-to-head against the Spruce Grove Saints beginning this week.

A woman is facing a string of charges after allegedly causing damaging to a Bonnyville hotel two evenings in a row, as well as uttering threats and lighting a building on fire.

So far, two men have been arrested in connection to a break and enter of an autobody shop in Bonnyville as well as the theft of two trucks that occurred overnight on March 30. Bonnyville RCMP say the investigation is ongoing.

Earlier this month, five volunteer firefighters from Station 5 Bonnyville took part in a charity stairclimb event in Seattle, WA. to raise money for cancer research. Despite the challenge, all five volunteer firefighters made it to the top of the Columbia Centre in full bunker gear.

‘From the days of horse-pulled ploughs and helping wounded in Normandy during WWII to writing emails and driving combines with GPS and computer screens, my grandfather has been there and done that,’ says William McGregor’s granddaughter, Shelly Bryant.
