St. Paul and Bonnyville included in visual tour to showscase arrival

Early Wednesday morning, Bonnyville residents along 43rd Ave woke to a loud bang, resulting from a suspected white truck that collided with a parked vehicle and a house. RCMP continue to investigate.

'It looked like a big ginormous castle,' says Grade 3 Ardmore Student, describing the Government House in Edmonton where she received an Honouring Spirit Award. The Alberta School Boards Association presents this award to 12 First Nations, Métis and Inuit from across the province annually.

'The past five years of planning, project managing, and hard work have got us to this point today that we are celebrating the beginning of the next 50 years of service for the Fort Kent Fire Department and the Bonnyville regional Fire Authority as they move into this new facility,' Brian McEvoy, a former regional fire chief of the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority, told those attending the grand opening of the Fort Kent Fire Hall on Saturday.

The Bonnyville and District SPCA put a pause on animal intake as it grapples with an unprecedented high volume of kitten populations and dog surrenders. The animal shelter will need to rehome nearly 30 cats and kittens, and at least six dogs before they can return to normal operations.

The Town of Bonnyville’s council has approved $100,000 in funding towards a performing arts theatre proposed by the Clayton Bellamy Foundation that will be constructed within the municipality. The one-time contribution is contingent on the success of a provincial dollar-matching grant.

This July, four Running Clinics will be held in Bonnyville to teach the fundamentals of jogging and running for anyone 10 years of age or older at any skill level. Half of the clinics will take place on the track at Walsh Field, while the other two will take place on the hiking trails around Muriel Lake.

With support from event organizers, Premier Academy teams’ Xplosion and Dynamite are selling table packages for RibFest’s Kick-off Barbecue on Friday July 8, in Cold Lake, to raise funds for international and national competitions.

Despite cool, windy and rainy weather, hundreds of Bonnyville residents got outdoors to take part in the numerous activities, from a pancake breakfast to parade and even a Canada Concert along Jessie Lake.
