Bonnyville RCMP briefs for Aug. 18 to 25

A property that has been seen as a safety concern for those living and travelling along 54 Avenue in the Town of Bonnyville has been cleaned up following the execution of a Notice of Entry Order that was given by the municipality after a somewhat lengthy legal process.

‘The families will have access to everything that they need to become the parents that they always knew they could be, but just needed a little help and support from their families and their community,’ says the Métis Nation of Alberta’s vice president of Region II.

‘If it can happen there, it can happen here,’ says the president of Lakeland Society for Truth and Reconciliation.

The Main Hall of the Senior Citizens Drop-in Centre has been officially renamed to honour one of the centre’s longest volunteers and members – William McGregor.

On Monday night, an unexpected fire broke out in the burn cell at the Ardmore Transfer Station. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they saw that the fire was safely contained in the burn cell and remained on scene until MD of Bonnyville staff remediated the fire.

Following a drug trafficking investigation that spanned several months in the Town and MD of Bonnyville, four area residents have been arrested and charged.

Parts of Highway 660 near Range Road 471 are still closed in the area where a collision took place earlier in the day on Friday.
