COLD LAKE - City of Cold Lake council has opted to postpone a downtown washroom project and will reconsider the potential project during next year’s budget deliberations. On Feb.

The second annual Skijoring for MS: Riding Towards a Cure event held in Cold Lake raised more than $26,000 on Saturday, with more donations continuing to roll in for the MS Society.

Cold Lake RCMP is reaching out to the public to see if anyone has video footage in the area of 50th Avenue, taken between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on March 10, following a complaint of a shooting in the area.

Stepping Stones Crisis Society based in Cold Lake is receiving $2 million in capital funding announced by the province on Thursday to expand shelter capacity for women and children fleeing domestic violence.

Graduating this year are Jordan Barrett, Logan Bohme, Samuel Comeau, Jamal Fayad, Jed Houle, Zachary Lapointe, Aidan McGilvery, and Dymitri Myshaniuk.

The funding raised will help continue providing services and programs to vulnerable and isolated seniors, says Cathy Aust, among this year’s event organizers.

Municipal leaders in the Lakeland have expressed their initial reactions to the provincial budget, tabled on Feb. 28 by Alberta Minister of Finance Travis Toews.

The second annual Skijoring for MS: Riding Towards a Cure event will return to Cold Lake Ag Society’s Exhibition Park grounds this weekend on March 11.

The Canadian Armed Forces will be conducting training in the vicinity of Cold Lake that will include United States Air Force aircraft between March 2 to 25.
