Outreach School urges Elk Point to take the ParticipACTION challenge

A top prize of $100,000 is up for grabs to those who take part in the ParticipACTION challenge.
ParticipACTION and the Elk Point Outreach School are issuing a Community Better Challenge for the month of June. Can Elk Point become Canada’s Most Active Community? We won’t know until we try!

ELK POINT - There’s a ParticipACTION banner on the fence beside Elk Point Outreach School (EPOS), alongside a giant hand painted poster urging all who see it to become part of the Elk Point Community Team, sponsored by the school, in ParticipACTION’s Community Better Challenge.

That challenge is part of the 50th year of ParticipACTION’s ongoing efforts to encourage Canadians of all ages and abilities to take part in physical activities during June of each year, and this year will end by determining Canada’s Most Active Community.

Could that be Elk Point? The Outreach School students think so, and they need all our help to fulfil that goal.

As their poster says, it will take just three steps. First, download the ParticipACTION app, second, join the Elk Point Community Challenge, and three, get active and record your activities on the app.

This year, ParticipACTION is urging everyone to be active in a safe manner and to connect with their community while following the COVID-19 restrictions, and has put the onus on committees, organizations and schools to spearhead the local competitions.

At the end of June, the efforts of communities across the country will be ranked, with their population factored in, and the 50 communities adding up most activity will be invited to submit an application explaining why they deserve to win the $100,000 top prize. Prizes will also be awarded to the top community in each province and territory.

EPOS has set the goal of winning the grand prize, which must be used toward physical activity initiatives, and using the proceeds to work with other community stakeholders to possibly build something as exciting as a skate park".

Now it’s up to us to sign up, show up and ParticipACT!
