STONEY LAKE – The 10-member Elk Point 4-H Beef Club proudly showed off the results of this year’s ongoing dedication to their project animals at Stoney Lake on Saturday, where judge Ryan Noble told the members and their families, “It all starts on days like this… the opportunities are endless.”

The afternoon started off with the Female Show, where both Calf Class wins went to Hailey Danyluk, whose wins continued with second in the Yearling Heifer class won by Cloey Germain, first in the 2-Year-Olds, with Shyanne Klatt placing second, and first in the 3-Year-Olds, with Zack Germain second. Her 2-Year Old went on to win the Champion Female class trophy from Crestview Angus, her 3-Year-Old named the Reserve Champion and taking home the Barrett Built Ltd. trophy.

Showmanship and Grooming was next on the agenda, with Cloey Germain first and Tyson Kotowich second in both Senior level competitions, Alexis Danyluk the lone Intermediate competitor and Maverick Stark first and Riley Stark second in both Junior levels for awards from Kotowich Evergreen Farms and Banana Hill Farms.

The afternoon wound up with the Steer Show, with steers shown by Zack Germain, Cloey Germain, Hailey Danyluk and Tyson Kotowich advancing from the preliminary judging to the Parade of Champions, where Noble declared, “You’d go a long way to find four out of 10 steers this good.”
Germaine’s steer, a 1,660-pound animal named ‘Pascale’, won both the K-Cow Ranch Grand Champion award and the Rate of Gain award from Danyluk Farms, with a daily gain of 3.86 pounds. Kotowich took home the Reserve Champion award from 3 Mile Angus for his 1,700-pound steer, ‘Nightcap’.

All 10 steers will compete against their counterparts from the other clubs in the St. Paul 4-H District at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 2 at the St. Paul Ag Corral, with the Parade of Champions at 6:30 p.m. and the sale to follow.
