Elk Point Town Council voiced support for the fall and winter’s upcoming community events at their Sept. 23 meeting, following an hour-long closed session discussion with Bonnyville – Cold Lake – St.

Elk Point’s Iron Horse Trail staging area will be filled to the brim even more than usual on Saturday, Oct 5.

The Alberta RCMP Roving Traffic Unit recently conducted a joint "High Volume Stop" project in the Vermilion area, which resulted in several traffic violations and fines. The project took place from Sept. 15 to Sept. 20.

A lack of physician coverage means people accessing the Elk Point Healthcare Centre's emergency department will see limited services on Wednesdays and into Thursday morning, until further notice, according to Alberta Health Services (AHS).

Elk Point Agricultural Society president Carrie Baumgardner, Acres for Ice committee member Loree Reynolds and A. G. Ross Arena secretary Courtney Kelly came to a special meeting of Elk Point Town Council last Monday with a sizeable ask.

Events, programs and involvement for all ages and a wide array of interests were on display at Wednesday’s Community Awareness Night, hosted by St. Paul Regional FCSS and Family Resource Network at the Allied Arts and Leisure Centre. 

Temporary service disruptions at the Elk Point Healthcare Centre emergency department are expected to take place throughout September, due to the hospital being without on-site physician coverage.
