Premier makes unannounced stop in St. Paul

Meets with municipal leaders from the Town of St. Paul, County of St. Paul, Town of Elk Point and Village of Glendon

Premier Jason Kenney made an unannounced visit to St. Paul late today, stopping at the UFO Landing Pad for a photo op with Mayor Maureen Miller and MLA Dave Hanson before heading into a closed-door meeting at Reunion Station with local municipal leaders shortly after 5 p.m. Representatives from the Town and County of St. Paul, Town of Elk Point and Village of Glendon were said to be on the guest list.

In speaking with Lakeland Today prior to the premier's arrival, Hanson would give no hint as to why Kenney was in town and what was on the agenda for this evening's meeting, which was expected to last about an hour. The mayor was equally evasive, saying only that she was pleased to have the opportunity to meet with the provincial leader and promised the Town of St. Paul would issue a press statement later.

Kenney appeared to be in good spirits and took the time to learn a little bit about the history of the Landing Pad during an informal chat with Miller and Hanson atop the town's landmark, "What's all this about, how did it get started," he asked, which is the same question many people are now asking about the premier's hush hush visit to the community.
