For those of you who already knew, please don't take this the wrong way. This is simply a friendly reminder from the Bonnyville Nouvelle that this Sunday is Father's Day.

On the weekend I participated in my first game of golf.

Outrage is the first emotion when you hear of a case of a person out on bail for a crime who then goes on, allegedly, to commit murder.

For the past week, I knew I wanted to write a column about dads, given that this weekend is Father’s Day. I needed some inspiration to get me in the right mindset. I knew it would happen, I just wasn’t sure when.

To the Editor: The Alberta Centre for Injury Control and Research has published statistics for all terrain vehicle (ATV) injuries in Alberta. During the eight-year period between 2002 and 2009, 113 ATV related fatalities were recorded in Alberta.

June 4-10 marks Seniors' Week across Alberta and many communities, including Bonnyville, are hosting events to celebrate the achievements and contributions our seniors make in our communities everyday.

This year wasn't my first rodeo, but last year was. I learned many lessons from last year's rodeo that I applied to this year.

I never thought I’d move to a small town and much less did I believe I would enjoy living out in the sticks. But as time went on, I found myself happy to see familiar faces in town, and to exchange greetings with the people I passed in the street.

I've been to my fair share of rodeos. Growing up in a small town, surrounded by country music and town fairs, rodeos just fell into place. I'm no expert.

Now that the excitement and busy schedules of rodeo weekend are behind us, maybe it's time to take a moment to reflect on how much work it is organizing an event of that scope. Now multiply that amount of work by 25.
