As of Monday afternoon, the St. Paul Fire Department and the County of St. Paul issued a fire ban following a residential blaze that severely damaged a yard and caused serious concern in the Lafond area on Sunday evening.

This year’s Enerflex MS Walk saw a groundswell of support coming from all corners of the Lakeland, and converging in St. Paul on Saturday.

Local RCMP were called to Hwy 652, east of Saddle Lake Cree Nation, on the morning of May 4 when a highway clean-up crew leader saw what was believed to be a person laying in a ditch. The leader called police and RCMP found the male to be deceased.

The County of St. Paul held its annual general meeting on May 2, with nearly 30 people taking the time to listen to a brief overview of the county’s audited financial statements and taking part in a question and answer period with council.

With a family that includes a total of 11 children, 44 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren, Theresa Jackson is no doubt a busy mother and grandmother.

Local fire crews have been busy responding to a number of calls since last Wednesday, and St. Paul Fire Chief Trevor Kotowich is asking residents to be extra cautious when starting fires or when using off-highway vehicles. 

The Saddle Lake Community Cadet Corps celebrated its year-end inspection last Wednesday night at the Saddle Lake Youth Centre, and was presented with a special accolade, a $10,000 donation from the RCMP foundation.

Local sheriffs showed their support for workers of the Edmonton Remand Centre as they took to the street and held a protest in front of the St. Paul courthouse on Monday.

An investigation into an alleged home invasion where at least three people were injured in Saddle Lake is ongoing. On April 24, St. Paul RCMP were called to a residence in Saddle Lake.

Authorities in St. Paul responded to a single vehicle rollover on Highway 881 at around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
