The introduction of the School Construction Accelerator program by the Government of Alberta means a new school will be built in Mallaig sooner than expected.

SUV collided with back of school bus

A two-feet tall character known as ‘Chicken’ usually perches on top of Stems and Flappers’ serving window, bringing glee to the Lakeland-area food truck’s customers - but 'Chicken' has recently gone missing.

Just a couple weeks after they returned to class for the 2024-25 school year, student-athletes have been busy not only hitting the books, but also hitting the links.

On Sept. 17, conservation officers from Forestry and Parks removed a car that had been submerged in Floatingstone Lake for nearly a year. Work is now being done to prevent delays in removing vehicles from bodies of water in the future.

The collision involved a school bus but no students were on board. 

École Mallaig School was included in the Government of Alberta's list of priority schools that will get funding for new projects.

On Sunday, St. Paul community members gathered or the annual Terry Fox Run - some walked, some ran, and some pedalled their bikes. 

Lakeland communities could be within range for waste transfer to regional site
