The 2024 Sentinel Storage Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts is nearing closer and preparations are taking place to welcome the top eight women's curling teams in Alberta.

The St. Paul Family Rodeo Winter Series completed its first rodeo on Jan. 6 with about 40 contestants taking part.

St. Paul Education buses have been cancelled for Jan. 11, due to extreme cold.

With the current state of economy in the province, from the rising costs of fuel, carbon tax, and inflation, Reeve Glen Ockerman says the “taxpayers simply cannot afford it.”

Community growth and regional collaboration was a big focus for the Town of St. Paul in 2023 and will continue to be a focus in 2024.

Three outdoor rinks are now available for the public, and the Town of St. Paul will continue to flood additional rinks as the temperature gets colder and snow finally arrives.

The Emergency Department at the George McDougall-Smoky Lake Healthcare Centre will be without physician coverage during the overnight hours from Jan. 8 to Jan. 12.

The operation is scheduled to take place Jan. 9. 

The St. Paul Jr. B. Canadiens were off to a great start following their first game in 2024, defeating the Vegreville Rangers 6-1 victory on Jan. 5.

The St. Paul 4-H Beef Project kicked off the season with a beef weigh-in, held in November.
