Councillors clearly divided on issue

A 61-year-old driver from Grimshaw, Atla., has been charged in relation to an incident that caused a brief but major power outage in the Town of Bonnyville on Oct. 3.

From morning to late evening on Sept. 30, community members descended on Ray Scott Athletic Park to take in minor football games, watch a cheer leading performance, see people get their heads shaved, and much more - all for a good cause.

‘We are approaching the property owner to discuss what is frankly, in our minds, inappropriate and disgusting iconography and symbols,’ says Alberta RCMP Media Relations Manager.

A T-bone collision that sent three people to hospital, of which two were airlifted to an Edmonton-area hospital, at a busy intersection north of the Town of Bonnyville remains under investigation. Charges may be pending.

Motorists are advised to avoid the intersection of Highway 41 and Highway 660, while emergency responders are on the scene of a two-vehicle collision.

In the week leading up to Sept. 30, several events were held in Bonnyville acknowledging those who attended residential schools.

Clayton Bellamy, of the Bellamy Foundation for the Arts, and Michael Topylki, secretary-treasurer for the foundation, made a presentation to the Lakeland Catholics Board of Trustees. Their request was for financial support for the construction of the Strathcona Performing Arts Centre.
