The Bonnyville Health Foundation in partnership with Richardson’s Jewellery and Island Girls Candle Co. are raising funds for local mental health initiatives. Ticket holders will receive a complementary ‘Utopia’ candle and have the chance to win one of three shopping sprees from Richardson’s Jewellery valued at $1,500, $1,000, and $500.

Construction on new pickle ball courts in the Town of Bonnyville is officially complete, giving pickle ball enthusiasts some time to take advantage of the new amenity before the snow flies.

Nearly 30 racers and 500 spectators headed to the Cherry Grove Rodeo Grounds to take part in Cherry Grove's growing 5th Annual Lawn Tractor Races held on Aug. 20.

During the lunch hour on Friday, Aug. 26, families headed down to the gazebo next to the Bonnyville swimming pool to take part in a Pop-up in the park barbecue, complete with a fun activities and live music by David Collins. 

Prospective and current Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiacs players battled it out at the annual Milton Romanchuk Cup intra-squad game. The tournament cup marks the end of the junior hockey team’s main camp and leads straight into the team's exhibition games.

The MD of Bonnyville council has approved a new garbage and recycling bin site off Range Road 433 to replace the former Riverhurst Hall Bin Site. The project is estimated to be completed by Oct. 1, at a cost of $100,000.

A partnership between Lakeland Catholic School Division and Portage College has created an opportunity for high school students at four different schools in the Lakeland to take part in Cree 101 – earning both high school and post-secondary credits.

The Bonnyville Municipal Library welcomed storyteller extraordinaire Mary Ann Lippiatt to share her tales originating from across the globe with families on Aug. 23. 

The long-awaited grand opening of the Station 8 Ardmore Fire Hall finally came to be on Aug. 27, when community members and local leaders had the opportunity to tour the facility, which had seen delays of nearly two years because of construction issues.

Seven Lakeland U15 athletes were selected to take part in the 2022 Alberta Zone Championship and represent Zone 7, the northeast region. The tournament took place over the Aug. 19-21 weekend.
