Although she is no stranger to the Glendon community after 26 years with Northern Lights Public Schools, Larissa Langevin will take on the role of assistant principal of Glendon School for the 2022-23 academic year.

Earlier this month, kids filled up the Bonnyville Municipal Library to watch puppets tell the story of Henny Penny and learn how they can make their own puppets at home. The show by Kaybridge Puppets is just one of the many free activities taking place at the library this summer.

Bonnyville RCMP were involved in 545 investigations from July 19 to Aug. 11. Among these were investigations related to stolen vehicles, stabbings and break and enters.

An alleged stabbing that occurred on July 28, resulted in three people being treated for non-life threatening injuries. A 22-year-old has been arrested and remanded into custody in relation to the assault.

Oral histories and traditions were showcased by local youth performing ‘Dancing under the 13 moons’ in the gymnasium of École Notre Dame High School on July 28. In August, two more performances will be held free of charge in Glendon and Cold Lake.

BONNYVILLE – As a means to prevent illegal dumping, misuse and to meet the growing need of household waste disposal, the bin site located at the Riverhurst Hall was removed as part of a one-year pilot project on March 23.

A Métis tale of love that breaks the barrier of time played in two venues in the Lakeland last week. The play ‘You used to call me Marie…’ by Tai Amy Grauman, was staged in St. Paul Aug. 3 with support of Reconciliation St. Paul and then in Bonnyville on Aug. 4. 

As the next school year approaches, Lakeland Catholic School Division has begun to announce changes to the leadership of its schools. While Bonnyville’s École Dr. Bernard Brosseau School will see a new principal arriving this fall, a new vice principal is set to fill a vacant spot at École Notre Dame Elementary School.

Local septic haulers and MD of Bonnyville residents' reliant on using holding or septic tanks for household wastewater are raising the alarm about the municipality’s decision to close its lagoons to outside haulers.

Bonnyville resident Travis Peter Slipchuk, was handed down a five-year sentence in a St. Paul Courtroom on Aug. 5, after pleading guilty to assaulting and wounding a peace officer in a Walmart parking lot, two counts of robbery and flight from police.
