Healthcare facilities in the Lakeland continue to deal with and respond to COVID outbreaks, and measures remain in place to combat the disease.

Legion members and members of the community laid poppies on the gravestones of Indigenous veterans on Nov. 8, National Aboriginal Veterans Day.

A flag raising and remembrance ceremony was held at Kinokamasihk Kiskinohamatokamik (Kehewin Community Education Centre) on Nov. 8 to mark National Aboriginal Veterans Day and honour those who served to protect Canada's freedoms.

Bonnyville hospital joins growing number of healthcare facilities implementing Connect Care, a new patient information system being used by Alberta Health Services, which is being rolled out across the province.

The Regional Sports and Tourism Committee, which is made up of delegates of Town of Bonnyville, City of Cold Lake, MD of Bonnyville and Village of Glendon, passed a motion to recommend to each of the partner municipalities to approve future funding for a proposed bid for the 2026 Alberta Winter Games.

Three school divisions operating in the Lakeland have seen a growth in student population for the 2023-24 school year. While a growth in student-age population has been a trend in Alberta it is an anomaly compared to the rest of the country.
