A Cold Lake woman has been arrested after reportedly being caught driving a stolen Jeep Renegade SUV that had been repainted with spray paint.

The founder of Hamel’s Meat Market, Josephat Hamel, was the legacy award recipient for Lakeland Credit Union’s Wall of Distinction. Members of the Hamel family were on hand at the unveiling ceremony to accept the award on behalf of their late father and pépère.

Charges have been laid against an Edmonton man in relation to a two-vehicle collision that occurred north of the Town of Bonnyville at the intersection of f Highway 41 and Secondary Highway 660.

There is no better way to mark the return of the Bonnyville Oil and Gas Show after a four-year gap than with a live musical performance, presentations, a dance and a Fun Casino at the event’s opening ceremonies, says Bonnyville and District Chamber of Commerce executive director.

An in-kind donation from Canadian Natural Resources, S&T Energy Services and Avalanche Winch & Tractor Services will create some much-needed space at the Bonnyville and District SPCA in the coming months.

‘I was a little bit disappointed in the beginning, but once we really looked into what we had accomplished, I think that we ran a really good race,” says NDP candidate Caitlyn Blake, for the Bonnyville-Cold Lake- St. Paul riding.

Town of Bonnyville residents who have questions or concerns about this year's property assessments can attend an open house being held at Town Hall on June 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The one-day event will allow property owners to have a fuller understanding of their property tax assessments.

Shortly after 12 p.m. on June 6, both lanes of Highway 28, just south of Cold Lake, were closed as emergency responders arrived on scene to address a serious motor vehicle collision between a car and truck. One lane has since been reopened as an investigation continues.

The fire that claimed the Duclos Arms, a building constructed as a local hospital in 1935, has been deemed suspicious. The circumstances around the fire are still being investigated, but fire authorities believe people were attempting to live in the vacant building.

This spring, 65 players joined the Bonnyville Bandits' spring football league, making for a busy field at this year’s Spring Football Jamboree held on May 27.
