The fire that claimed the Duclos Arms, a building constructed as a local hospital in 1935, has been deemed suspicious. The circumstances around the fire are still being investigated, but fire authorities believe people were attempting to live in the vacant building.

This spring, 65 players joined the Bonnyville Bandits' spring football league, making for a busy field at this year’s Spring Football Jamboree held on May 27.

Another season is on the books for the Rhinos Volleyball Club. While athletes have made many memories and reached new heights together, the end of the 2023 season also means saying farewell to 18U graduating players. Four graduating Rhinos will be heading off to pursue the sport at the next level.

On May 27, a total of 103 graduates from École Notre Dame High School walked across the stage marking the end of their high school careers.

The World Professional Chuckwagon races and Pro Rodeo will take over the Bonnyville Ag Society grounds from June 8-11 as chuckwagon drivers, cowboys and cowgirls lean into a new season of competitions.

Two victims are at home recovering after allegedly being stabbed by a 19-year-old man shortly after midnight on May 28.

Highway 660 is currently closed between Highway 41 and Range Road 455, as first responders are on scene dealing with a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 41 and Highway 660, north of the Town of Bonnyville. The public is asked to avoid the area in order to minimize further traffic issues.

An early morning fire that is being considered suspicious at this time is threatening to erase one of Bonnyville’s first hospitals, Duclos Hospital. The building has sat vacant for more than a year following an AHS order to close the building.

The province’s first RCMP support service dog is retiring after nearly a decade on the job. The Bonnyville community said farewell during a community barbecue on May 26.
