In response to escalating security concerns at the Cold Lake Energy Centre, City council is actively considering plans to compartmentalize spaces within the facility.

The Alberta Government has announced the redesignation of Muriel Lake Provincial Recreation Area (PRA). This decision signifies the end of its management under the Provincial Parks Act, with the site now set to be governed under the Public Lands Act.

The Cold Lake Agricultural Society played host to the PAWsitive Dog Sports Association's 21st annual dog agility competition on Feb. 16 and 17.

The City of Cold Lake administration and council recently addressed a letter received from the Canadian Federal Advocate, a group that is in charge of making recommendations and improving Canada’s housing laws. The letter sent to council spoke of homelessness in the community and encampments.  

COLD LAKE - In a proactive move to promote development on vacant land, City of Cold Lake council has passed a bylaw and two policies establishing tax subclasses and introducing a tax incentive program.  

The City of Cold Lake has decided not to approve an additional $50,000 request from the Clayton Bellamy Foundation, citing budget constraints for 2024. However, the item could be brought back to the table for 2025. 

Over the Family Day weekend, the Lakeland witnessed an incredible display of community spirit as 40 hockey teams descended upon the Energy Centre in Cold Lake for the Winterland Invitational. Teams also hit the ice in Bonnyville and Elk Point as part of the regional tournament. 

On April 16 and 17, a two-day trades fair is set to take place in the Lakeland region, organized by Lakeland Catholic School Division (LCSD) and Northern Lights Public Schools (NLPS).

On Feb. 14, 4 Wing Military Family Resource Centre Society (MFRCS) held their first Valentine Day Salsa Date Night.

On Feb. 3, the Cold Lake Ice Junior B hockey team took to the ice at the Cold Lake Energy Centre to host their annual Pink in the Rink game, a collaborative effort with the Cold Lake and District Family and Community Support Services (FCSS).
