When the Junior A Lac La Biche Lakers-the community’s newest sports franchise-hit the Bold Centre ice in early October for their inaugural season, there will be a handful of local players on the roster.

Ben Kenny, of Belfast, Northern Ireland, who is enrolled in a business administration program at the Portage College Lac La Biche campus, played for various clubs before moving to Canada.

On Aug. 15, traffic was down to one lane on Nipewon Road in Lac La Biche due to construction.

Recently, a group of youths who are members of the Teen Social Club in Lac La Biche spent an evening at the Edmonton International Raceway entering the races but also meeting the drivers and get getting their autographs.

Over the past few months, contractors have been working on Phase 2 of the $7.3 million McArthur Park Revitalization Project.

The training session took place on the evening of Monday, Aug. 12 at the Bold Centre turf field.

On the afternoon of Aug. 14, a fire restriction that had been lifted just over a week earlier for Lac La Biche County was put back into effect.  

On the morning of Aug. 14, there was widespread smoke in much of the Lakeland region.

Chenee Miller, special events coordinator for Lac La Biche County, said the events for the three-day festival were well attended with positive feedback from participants.
