Some familiar faces will be in attendance at this year's LRA finals.

The long-awaited grand opening of the Station 8 Ardmore Fire Hall finally came to be on Aug. 27, when community members and local leaders had the opportunity to tour the facility, which had seen delays of nearly two years because of construction issues.

Charges have been laid against three individuals, including one 17-year-old, in relation to a shooting that occurred on July 10 in the area of the Cold Lake First Nations, which sent one man to hospital in serious condition.

A monument created in collaboration between the Confederacy of Treaty Six First Nations, the City of Edmonton, and the Government of Alberta, was unveiled on Aug. 21 to commemorate the signing of Treaty No. 6. A St. Paul artist also had a hand in the creation of the monument.

The St. Paul Golf Course held its annual Club Championship on Aug. 21, a tradition that happens every season.

Sean Hovelkamp recalls a time when the St. Paul Golf course schedule was packed with tournaments that included strong competition and great prizes. He remembers men’s opens, club championships, and scrambles - and as he takes on the role of golf club manager, he hopes to bring those back "one step at a time;"

The Village of Vilna celebrated its 100th anniversary at this year's Boomtown Days. The Vilna Ag Society was also celebrating its 50th anniversary.
