The Lac La Biche Golf Club held its annual Club Championship tournament on Aug. 20 and 21.

Seven Lakeland U15 athletes were selected to take part in the 2022 Alberta Zone Championship and represent Zone 7, the northeast region. The tournament took place over the Aug. 19-21 weekend.

Cold Lake’s senior men's Alberta Football League team, the Fighter Jets, have swept the competition going undefeated in the 2022 season and taking a 55-0 win at the championship match held at the Thomas Varughese Field on Aug. 20. The local team is now preparing to host the national championship in September.

The Lakeland U13 Boys competed in Okotoks, while the U15 Boys team attended the tournament in Calgary.

‘The boys don't always want the girls on the team, but I just tried harder. If they thought I wasn't good, I tried to push myself to be better,’ says Bonnyville football player Sara Fagnan.

Over 50 kids participated in a professional three-day hockey camp that was a huge hit among the U7 to U17 that participated last week in Lac La Biche County.

Local athletes competing with the Lakeland Yellowjackets took home a handful of medals at the Tri-Province track meet that took place in Sherwood Park. 

The St. Paul Filipino Community Sports League recently wrapped up a successful second season. The league encourages people from all cultures to get involved in the fun.

The U13 Bonnyville Angels wrapped up their softball season by taking home bronze medals at the C Provincial softball tournament in Leduc over the July 15-17 weekend.
