Residents from Bonnyville, St. Paul, Lac La Biche and beyond travelled to the hamlet of La Corey on Thursday evening wanting answers about two proposed Métis Settlements Indigenous Protection and Conservative Areas (IPCA) for the region – the reality was there few answers to be found.

Alberta is the first province in Canada to lower the recommended age for regular breast cancer screening mammograms to include women 45 to 50 years old. The Alberta Health Services decisions was based on new evidence, says the province.

A peace officer that is employed by the MD of Bonnyville was acquitted of careless driving on Friday. The community peace officer was charged by RCMP in February in relation to an incident that resulted in the deaths of two people on Aug. 23, 2021.

The MD of Bonnyville council has defeated a motion that would have effectively changed the title of the municipality's reeve to mayor. The change in honorary title was one piece of a potential rebrand for the municipal district hinted at during the Oct. 12 council meeting.

Following a tip of a stolen truck from Lac La Biche RCMP, members of the Bonnyville RCMP detachment were able to locate the stolen vehicle and charged three people with breaking and entering a rural business in the MD of Bonnyville.

In honour of the many good deeds of a well-known business owner and community man, a committee of five non-profits formed to host the first ever Victor Ringuette Sportsman Dinner, held on Oct. 15 at Bonnyville’s C2 Centre.

The Bonnyville Friendship Centre hosted its 5th Annual Sister in Spirit Vigil on Oct. 4 to align with National Day of Action in Canada for Missing, Murdered, Exploited Indigenous Peoples. The ceremony was filled with moving personal stories, but also hope for healing and positive change.

Bonnyville resident, Lynda Robb, was the recipient of the Feel the Love project that saw a local company donate and install a brand-new Lennox furnace and air conditioner. 

At the end of September, Bonnyville RCMP were called to two separate incidents that involved a male and female duo that were trespassing on rural properties. In both cases, RCMP members were able to attend the area and apprehend the suspects.
