About five months after the local non-profit was named the recipient of a provincial Friends of Education Award, members of Action for Healthy Communities accepted the award in person at a Lakeland Catholic meeting on Oct. 19.

A 30-year-old man from Bonnyville has been issued a Provincial Sanction after allegedly failing a mandatory alcohol screening. RCMP discovered the man had outstanding warrants and was a suspended driver.

A 64-year-old from Bonnyville has been remanded in custody following an alleged break and enter that occurred at a Bonnyville business on Oct. 24.

Following an alleged carjacking that took place at a hotel parking lot along the town of Bonnyville’s Main Street on the morning of Oct. 15, two men have been charged.

Just seven days after a previous incident, two individuals that were pulled over by police in a U-Haul and charged with possessing an assortment of restricted weapons near Franchere, face new charges after being pulled over in the same U-Haul vehicle again.  

As of Oct. 12, Lakeland MP Shannon Stubbs resumed her former role as the Natural Resource Critic following Conservative Party of Canada Leader Pierre Poilievre’s new “inflation busting Conservative Shadow Cabinet” announcement.

Darren Rain Moocheweines, who was convicted of manslaughter earlier this year in relation to a death that occurred in 2018, has had his sentencing appeal dismissed in an Alberta Court of Appeal on Oct. 19.

It was a celebration of life that came too early. On Friday, Oct. 21, the Bonnyville Voyageurs played their quarter final match in memory of Miriam Godziuk, the daughter of Voyageurs Head Coach Larry Godziuk.
