On April 7, students arriving to classes at Bonnyville Centralized High School were directed to secure areas within the building because the facility was under a ‘hold and secure’ protocol following a threat that had been made online, directed toward the school.

After years of ongoing efforts to raise funds to build a state-of-the-art facility for the Bonnyville Friendship Centre, the non-profit has received a multi-million dollar federal grant to begin construction for an addition and retrofit. Local dignitaries offered words of encouragement and a hand at the groundbreaking ceremony.

On April 5, the Lakeland Panthers hosted an end of season banquet filled with awards, food, and a speech by guest and former NHL player Jon Kalinski, who also happens to be a Panthers’ alumnus.

This week, RCMP Traffic Service officers handed out several tickets in the Town of Bonnyville for noncompliance with seatbelt laws. Additionally, members ticketed multiple drivers for speeding along Highway 28.

Earlier this week a woman from Saddle Lake was charged and remanded into custody after several residents reported an erratic driver that had almost collided with others.

The Town of Bonnyville council reluctantly agreed to write off $1,664 to uncollectible debt as the result of property flight of three manufactured homes that moved out of a Mobile Home Park.
