A driver of a dirt bike sustained serious injuries and was air lifted to an Edmonton area hospital after being struck by a truck in the Town of Bonnyville on May 9. The driver of the dirt bike is facing a charge under the Off Highway Vehicle Act.

The Dragonfly Counselling and Support Centre received just over $52,000 from the provincial government to address the wait lists for sexual assault survivors wanting to access support in the Lakeland, and to expand services.

The Lakeland Female Development Camp is the first of its kind to take place in the region. The five-day hockey camp is expected to draw in 150 female athletes aged seven to 15 from across province to the C2 from Aug. 21 to 25.

The Dragonfly Centre is teaming up with local restaurants throughout the Lakeland region and beyond to increase public awareness about what it means to give consent through an easy to remember acronym – FRIES: Freely given, revocable, informed, enthusiastic and specific.

The Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority has issued a Fire Ban as well as an off-highway vehicle (OHV) restriction to take effect as of May 5. A list of activities now prohibited are included.
