The Cold Lake community embraced the cool weather as people came together for the first Coldest Night of the Year event hosted by the Cold Lake Food Bank on Feb. 24.  

In celebration of Pink Shirt Day on Feb. 28 the FCSS Cold Lake Bully Free Committee organized a button design contest ahead of the date, inviting the community to showcase their creativity and promote anti-bullying messages.  

A lively discussion took place in City of Cold Lake council chambers regarding the city's skunk removal services. 

In response to escalating security concerns at the Cold Lake Energy Centre, City council is actively considering plans to compartmentalize spaces within the facility.

The Alberta Government has announced the redesignation of Muriel Lake Provincial Recreation Area (PRA). This decision signifies the end of its management under the Provincial Parks Act, with the site now set to be governed under the Public Lands Act.

The Cold Lake Agricultural Society played host to the PAWsitive Dog Sports Association's 21st annual dog agility competition on Feb. 16 and 17.

The City of Cold Lake administration and council recently addressed a letter received from the Canadian Federal Advocate, a group that is in charge of making recommendations and improving Canada’s housing laws. The letter sent to council spoke of homelessness in the community and encampments.  

COLD LAKE - In a proactive move to promote development on vacant land, City of Cold Lake council has passed a bylaw and two policies establishing tax subclasses and introducing a tax incentive program.  

The City of Cold Lake has decided not to approve an additional $50,000 request from the Clayton Bellamy Foundation, citing budget constraints for 2024. However, the item could be brought back to the table for 2025.
