Elk Point Canada Day Committee is deep in the planning stages for their double-barreled June 30 - July 1 weekend event, which this year will include participation in a nation-wide event of the National Chinese Canadian Congress.

In a move aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and economic growth, the Alberta government has announced an investment of $1.13 million to support the development of regional airports across the province, and some of that money will be coming to Cold Lake.  

City of Cold Lake council has officially approved a letter voicing the municipality’s concerns about a lack of funding for improvements to Highway 28, and an overall lack of funding for northeastern Alberta. 

The province will boost the number of watercraft inspectors, watercraft inspection stations, and K9 units in attempt to keep invasive species out of Alberta's lakes and rivers.

The event featured 18 teams from the Lac La Biche area and the Lakeland region

County of St. Paul will continue its partnership with STARS Air Ambulance, increasing its annual contribution to a fixed rate of $14,000 for 2024 and 2025.
