The Alberta on the Plate event is coming up this month, and foodies in the Lakeland won’t have to travel very far to enjoy meals grown and served in the region.

While a group of residents in the Elk Point area continue to voice concerns about a proposed wind turbine project, a pause on new renewable electricity generation projects was announced last week.

Building relationships is crucial to the strength of the community, according to St. Paul and District FCSS. One of the ways FCSS is helping build relationships is through its block party program, which recently included a block party held at Lambert Park on Aug. 2.

On Aug. 2, Saddle Lake held its second Market and Open Mic at the Manitou Kehiw Arena. The first market was held in July.

This year's Haying in the 30's event once again drew a large crowd out to the site, located near Mallaig.

North America observed National Mutt Day on July 31, celebrating mixed breed dogs, and to bring attention to mutts in need of a home. In the Lakeland, many mutts continue to seek their forever family.

With the Junior B Hockey season nearing, the St. Paul Canadiens have welcomed veteran player Isaak Watters as the team’s new captain for the 2023-24 season.

Throughout the month of July, the Mental Health Capacity Building (MHCB) in Schools Initiative in St. Paul has been working to promote mental health for kids by offering outdoor, summer fun.
