The 2025 season of the Music in the Forest series at Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park gets underway on March 20 with a performance by Edmonton-based blues and roots musician Sean Pinchin.

The accomplishments of women across the world, and the Lakeland region, will be recognized and celebrated during International Women’s Day, which takes place on March 8.

While the signature ice races and aircraft fly-in event were cancelled due to warm weather, and the pond hockey tournament was also moved inside the Bold Centre for the 2025 Lac La Biche Ice Festival, there was still plenty to see and do on the ice of Lac La Biche lake.

Despite several events being cancelled due to the warm temperatures, there was still something for everyone at the 2025 Lac La Biche Ice Festival.

A MEAG truck event took place on the ice of Lac La Biche Lake on the afternoon of March 1.

Britney Supernault, who goes by the penname Cree Nomad, will be talking about their debut novel, 'Hey, June', during an author visit to the Stuart MacPherson Library in Lac La Biche on Feb. 18 from 1-3 p.m.

Lenora Lemay, board chair of the Lakeland Out of the Elements Shelter Society, said the transitional housing facility, which opened its doors last January, has seen an increase in individuals accessing services at the shelter.

The colourful quilts will be given to young children living in Beaver Lake Cree Nation.
