Elk Point Town Council continued their ongoing search for new opportunities at their Feb. 28 meeting, with one opportunity arriving earlier that day in the form of an invitation to join the Town of St. Paul and other area communities at upcoming trade shows in Edmonton, Sherwood Park and Fort McMurray. 

The F.G. Miller boys' basketball team from Elk Point won this year's SPAA banner after defeating Saddle Lake.

The Feb. 21 to 23 Future is Here Conference on Industrial Hemp, organized by the Alberta Hemp Alliance saw the future unfold for a unique alliance between Frog Lake First Nations (FLFN), the Town of Elk Point, Natural Fiber Technology and an integrated hemp company, ALLIVE. 

Faith Hunter of RF Protection & K9 Services was elected by acclamation as vice president of the Elk Point Chamber of Commerce.

Described as the "affected person" in a recent ASIRT report, a local woman spoke with Lakeland This Week, expressing her frustration with the investigation and decision.

ELK POINT - It’s only half way through the month of February but some of the minor hockey playoffs are already starting. The early star is due in part to the provincial finals. Teams no longer compete in the zone as they did in the past.

A delegation spoke to Town of Elk Point council on Feb. 12 regarding concerns over a potential wind energy project in the Northern Valley area.

The past five years “have gone by very fast, even though COVID stole those two years,” says Dr. Adenike Ashaolu, as she prepares to close her practice in Elk Point on April 30.

“Investigation determined that an adult victim had been sleeping in the backseat of a SUV when it was stolen. The victim awoke to see that a stranger was driving the SUV, she requested the suspect to stop, to which he did not."

While the fifth Ronald McDonald Winterland Invitational hockey tournament is a standout attraction all on its own, there’s even more fun in store for Elk Point and district on the Family Day weekend.
